Are you one of the many people out there who took singing lessons, but didn’t really notice any notable improvement in your singing? Did you take singing classes and yet, you still strain your throat to reach high and low notes, or you still sound tight and nasal, or you are still running out of breath? Did you take classes from a mainly classical singing teacher who only teaches you techniques in a classical style? How to REALLY relax when singing. Again, you think you are relaxed but are NOT. We teach you the real relaxed state and with relaxation exercises

A REAL PROPER SINGING LESSON should include teaching you how to read music and the basic rudiments of music. If you can talk, but you are unable to read and write the language, then your knowledge is incomplete and you are still ill-equipped. Same goes for singing. Learning the rudiments and understanding the music behind the song makes you a better singer, we promise you!

Teacher Yvette Atienza is a pioneer in the Singapore Music Scene, starting since 1989, and very highly regarded Singing Teacher, as she is the rare teacher who is very versatile in many genres - Musical Theatre, Jazz, R&B, Pop, Classical, and especially in the difficult field of Jazz Improvisation! As a pioneer in the Singapore Vocal Jazz Scene, and Southeast Asia, her half-Spanish roots makes her very at home and comfortable in performing and teaching Latin Jazz, Swing Jazz, Musical Theatre, Top 40s, R&B, Opera and Jazz Improvisation.
Also considered one of the most versatile singers in Singapore being able to sing SEVEN genres -
Musical Theatre, Swing Jazz, Latin Jazz, Top 40s, Pop Rock, R&B, Opera Classical Music, including being adept in the difficult Jazz Improvisation, singing in SEVEN languages - English, Spanish, Portuguese, Filipino, Italian, Malay, Bahasa Indonesia, and a little Mandarin. Her Spanish roots really enables her to sing in Spanish language, Portuguese and Italian, as these are similar languages rooted in the same Latin family. She does not memorise by rote - she actually speaks Spanish! She has been singing professionally for 30 years since the 80s until the present, still performing to this day, and has amassed massive experience performing and recording with numerous well-known international artistes, theatre musicals and performance venues all over Singapore and Asia.

With a Trinity Guildhall Singing Performance Diploma, and participating in musical theatre productions in Manila and Singapore, and performance venues and nightspots around Singapore and Asia, she has been teaching Singing and Beginner Piano for 16 years to date in her own private studio and various music schools and international schools in Singapore - Verve Music and Dance School, Yamaha Music School, United World College, German European School Singapore, Australian International School, Canadian International School, to name a few.
Teaching kids as young as six years old to adults 60 years old, she can teach you to become a singing professional or prepare you for Trinity or ABRSM Singing Exams. She has prepared scores of students for auditions to musicals or admission to overseas music schools like Berklee College of Music , New England Conservatory, Instiute of Contemporary Music Performance in London.
Some of her famous students include Sofia Poston - the first Singaporean musical actress to star and helm an international musical tour - the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of the musical "Matilda", 2017 Montreux Jazz Vocal Competition Semi-Finalist Helena Hulsman from Holland, Australian Indie Sensation Singer-Songwiter Rya Park, and local Singaporean musical theatre actress, singer and emcee Alyssa Lie! With her guidance, she has helped clinched three of her students FULL scholarships to the Berklee College of Music in London and the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London!
Aside from being a passionate veteran singer herself, she is very committed and a passionate Vocal Coach who will make sure you will reach a high standard of excellence in your singing skills. The fact that she also plays piano makes her the consumate singing teacher! She is able to accompany her students and and teach vocal harmony and jazz improvisation by playing the jazz phrases on the piano. Her students obtain Merits and Distinctions in their singing exams! Her teaching specialisations are on jazz, popular hits, R&B, musical theatre and Classical genres. Her facility in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese is a big plus for those preparing for singing exams in other languages. Aside from teaching singing, Yvette continues to perform and is very active in the Singapore Jazz Music Scene.
